Networking
Queen V Enterprises would like to provide you with a few tidbits on Networking
The dictionary defines Networking as “A process by where people who have common interests and concerns come together to exchange ideas and information, for the purpose of development and accomplishment.“ But it is much more than that....
• Creating, Developing, and Maintaining meaningful relationships
• Making solid connections
• Expanding one's social network or sphere of influence
• Sharing ideas with like-minded individuals
• Connecting with people of like interests for the purpose of uncovering opportunities
• Connecting with others on a personal, social, and/or professional level
Myth Busters
Now that we know what Networking is...What Networking is NOT
Networking is an often overused and misunderstood word. This leads to a lot of networking myths
Myth: Networking is only for “business.”
Fact: Networking is not only for business, networking can also be personal, social, and professional. Action: Networking can be done anywhere – at the nail salon, on an airplane, at a bookstore, shopping mall, at a sports event, conventions, in a classroom etc. Meeting people and developing relationships occurs on a daily basis, wherever you network with family members, friends, colleagues, strangers etc.
Myth: Networking is all about “Your Needs & Wants” – Reaching out to others only when you need something (i.e. a job).
Fact: You must reach out to others long before you need anything at all. It is about being genuine and authentic, building trust and meaningful relationships, and seeing how you can help others.
Networking is a process that yields results in the long run.
Action: By giving to others with no strings attached, you will in turn receive.
